Jane's got some rage.
Have you read this? My Organic Baby Brown Rice Cereal has been recalled...the very cereal that Isaac just starting eating yesterday. Here's a copy of the Email she just fired off:
I am a new mother of a six-month old son who has been exclusively breastfed. I have been extremely nervous about starting solids, and waited until six months as recommended. Since he had only consumed breastmilk, and I was very uncomfortable with the idea of various chemicals, additives, and preservatives entering in my son's body. I scoured the organics section of my local grocery store for alternative (and ideally Canadian) products and decided on your My Organic Baby Brown Rice Cereal. He began the cereal yesterday. I heard of a rice cereal recall this morning and quickly went online to learn more, assuming that it was another brand as I was certain that I had made the best choice for my son's health. I'm sure you can imagine my shock - and frankly, my disgust - when I read the details of the recall. As a parent, I make the best informed decisions that I can. I feel as though I 'did my homework' on your products, and I was let down. My son has now gone from consuming nothing since birth besides mother's milk, to consuming tainted rice cereal. I am certain you can appreciate the severity of this issue, beyond simply the need to revamp packaging materials and marketing.
We'll keep you posted on what we hear back. In the mean time, want to make your own rice cereal? We had planned on making the rest of Isaac's baby food (veg, fruit, meat), but cereal seemed like a hassle. Guess what? It's not. Here's what we are going to do now.
